"Teddy" by Ross Bonfanti

Sounds like the Italian ice dancing team - Bonfanti and delRosario - but they are two of my favorite artists at the Rice Polak Gallery in PTown. Ross Bonfanti's most recent work is a series of petrified teddy bears, raggedy old toys that have been cast into concrete with such fidelity that you have to touch them to make sure they're not cloth.There's something about taking a treasured old toy with such evocative powers that it transports most of us instantly into memories of childhood and transforming into the least cuddly of materials. Not to mention that we are still debating how it was done.

"Furry Creature" by Edward delRosario

I am also always taken by the paintings and drawings of Edward Delrosario. The technique is extremely precise yet flat and curiously lacking in affect, while the content is often sexually provocative and always enigmatic - people suspended in a timeless and featureless environment confronting the viewer, perhaps with a bizarre physical characteristic or the remainder of an inexplicable act.
